Video: The Rainforest Room on the Disney Dream
This might be the best-kept secret about Disney Cruise Line. Or any cruise for that matter. And I wish I had one of these things in my neighborhood.
The Rainforest Room
I’m not really big into getting massages at any spa, much less on a cruise ship. It’s nice, sure, but what I really enjoy about spas is the typical access you get to their relaxing amenities.
Some spas have a calm room you can sit in before the massage to put cucumbers on your eyes or whatever and listen to Enya. Some have access to a locker room with a sauna, steam room, hot tub, or all of the above.
THAT is the experience I’m always looking for. Forget a gym membership. I want a membership to a place with relaxing rooms, fluffy robes, and various forms of heated everything.
Disney gave me everything I wanted, without having to book a rubdown. The Rainforest Room on all Disney Cruise Line ships is just a place to come and relax. No massage required.
The Rainforest Rooms on the Dream and Fantasy are identical and have a lot more going on than the more humble situation on the Magic and Wonder.
Playing With Temperature
I’ve never had the chance to play with temperature before. I love to taste my way around every Epcot festival, I storm into Bath & Body Works just to smell all of the things, and I watch and listen to every genre of anything. Like Gazelle in Zootopia, my life is all about TRY EVERYTHING!
So if I can hop from a shower that smells like mint and feels FREEZING to a tropical rainstorm right across the hallway? Count me in! How about laying in gently warmed tile beds, or experimenting with a dry sauna, then popping into the thick fog of a Turkish Hammam steam room? This was the first time I had experienced a playground based on temperature.
For each daily visit to the Rainforest Room, you’ll also receive a salt scrub and little scrubby sponge buddy. These are great for scrubbing away the day and experiencing more sensations in the steam rooms or showers.
Sights, Smells, Feels, and Sounds, Too!
But there are also so many smells and sights. Each of the four showers has lights, sounds, and smells to go with the various settings. There are even a couple of storm settings, complete with lightning!
One of my favorite sights is the view… there are two PRIVATE hot tubs on the balcony beyond the heated tile beds. The adult hot tubs up on deck get pretty crowded and the atmosphere is more of a party. Here, there are just a few fellow Rainforest Room fans quietly soaking while looking out onto the ocean.

Check out my video all about the Rainforest Room above, or hop over to YouTube to watch. I created this one for Inside the Magic in an effort to evangelize my love for this type of spa experience. Maybe if I shout it from the rooftops enough, they’ll open one up in my neighborhood?
